Mr. Joe Turrisi brings over 40 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, spanning markets in Washington, D.C. metro, California and Florida. His career began in the early 1980s when he joined Willis Commercial, the silent partner of NV Homes in McLean, Virginia. During this time, he gained in-depth knowledge of structuring real estate transactions, laying the foundation for his future success. Later, Joe oversaw a $40 Million commercial real estate portfolio for Richmond, Virginia based Lincoln Savings & Loan.
Since then, as a Principal of Potomac Development Company, Joe has personally entitled and developed more than 600 single-family residential units and consulted on over 500 residential condominium units. Additionally, he has played a key role as a partner and consultant in the development of more than 100,000 square feet of retail space. His expertise has been sought for consulting and negotiation on transactions exceeding $100 million.
Joe’s extensive and unique experience has enabled him to structure syndications for the acquisition of retail and multifamily properties. To date, these partnerships have amounted to over $50 million. In 2021, Joe exited these partnerships and relocated to South Florida, where he has been invited to launch a fund and collaborate with a major institutional investor to acquire multifamily properties.
His passion for real estate traces back to his early years, working for his grandfather’s construction company while still in elementary school. One of his most formative experiences was working on iconic structures in Washington, D.C., including the National Gallery of Art.
Joe credits his success and is forever grateful to the invaluable wisdom he received from industry leaders such as Reed Willis (Willis Commercial), Bud Fantle (founder of Lane Drug, and CEO of Peoples and Dart Drug companies), Tom Georgelas (The Georgelas Group), and Jay Donegan (Jay Donegan Company), among others. From them, he learned a guiding principle that has shaped his career: in real estate, the well-being of your partners and investors must always be the top priority.
Gabriel Turrisi is the Senior Principal at Sun Capital Group and the second son of founder Joe Turrisi. With a background rooted in the private corporate sector, Gabriel developed a strong foundation in strategic planning, operations, and investment analysis. After gaining valuable experience and honing his skills, he made the pivotal decision to leave his previous role to join his father at Sun Capital Group, embracing the opportunity to contribute more directly to the family business.
In his current role, Gabriel is responsible for identifying and executing high-value investment opportunities, with a focus on long-term growth and sustainable returns. He brings a hands-on, detail-oriented approach to every project, leveraging both data-driven insights and practical experience to navigate complex transactions.
